Our Status

The Coalition is registered by the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) authority as an independent Civil Society organisation leading the voices for children’s rights in South Sudan and beyond.

Mission

Child Rights coalition strives to see an empowered South Sudan as a state where children’s rights are respected and protected through lobbying and advocacy.

Vision

Ensure all children are able to exercise their human rights in the whole country as enshrined in the laws of South Sudan and other International Conventions that uphold children rights.

Our History

Child Rights Civil Society Coalition was established in 2012 with the Membership of 15 local CSOs drawn from both the states and national level through support of Save Children International.

What We Do?

The Child Rights Coalition provides a coordinated platform for CSOs action and plays a central role in key child rights developments at the states and National level in South Sudan.

The Child Rights Coalition (CRC) is a voluntary network of more than 36 national CSOs in South Sudan committed to ensuring that all children fully enjoy their rights as defined by the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Regional Network

Child Rights Coalition is part of the Eastern Africa Child Rights Network (EACRN) which was established in March, 2014 to coordinate efforts by National Child Rights Coalitions in Eastern Africa in their advocacy for children’s rights in the region. The network’s mandate is to implement programmes that focus on the realization of child rights as contained in the Child Act 2008 South Sudan. The African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACRWC) and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

Our Office

The Child Rights Coalition office headquarters is in Juba, Hai Neem, Central Equatoria State.

Our Focus Areas

Law and Land Policy Influencing

Advocating for the enactment, amendment, and enforcement of child‑friendly laws and policies. Engaging with parliament, ministries, and commissions to harmonize national laws with international standards. Supporting policy dialogues on issues like birth registration, juvenile justice, and social protection.

Child Protection

We are working to prevent and respond to abuse, neglect, exploitation, and violence. Ending the recruitment and use of children in armed conflict. We strengthen community-based child protection mechanisms and case management, and support the reintegration of separated or at‑risk children.

Budget Advocacy

Analyzing and influencing national and subnational budgets to prioritize children’s needs. Tracking public expenditure for education, health, and protection. Mobilizing evidence to advocate for increased and equitable allocation for child-focused services.

CSOs Capacity Strengthening

Building the institutional capacity of local child-focused organizations (governance, financial management, advocacy skills). Facilitating knowledge-sharing and networks for collective action. Training partners on rights-based programming and accountability.

Child Participation

Ensuring children’s voices are meaningfully included in decision‑making at the family, community, and national levels. Establishing child parliaments, forums, or clubs to influence policies affecting them. Promoting civic education and leadership development for children.

Child Rights Governance

Monitoring the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and related frameworks. Promoting transparency and accountability in government structures. Tracking and reporting on child rights indicators at national and county levels.
